drum and bass combines the best of Hip-Hop, Jungle, Techno , House and is very close to Jungle (there are some differences in samples). Jungle is not in any way (as someone can suppose) other than some of the beats used connected directly to Hip-Hop.Jungle drum and base came as a result of an underground rave-orientated music known as Hardcore (not to be confused with rock or punk Hardcore), this in turn came from the late eighties early nineties music Acid-House which like all of the above came out of England (apart from Hip-Hop).
Jungle combined the fast tempo and production methods of Hardcore with samples of drum and bass lines from the Jamaican based Ragga music. Hip-Hop has played a part in Jungle, but as an after shock rather than a trigger. Early drum and bass / Jungle was promoted for the most part through the use of pirate radio stations.
Now drum and bass is now very popular in North Europe: UK, Estonia, Finland, and Sweden. The main labels are: Metalheadz, Formation Records, Moving Shadow, No-U Turn, Prototype, etc. Even Taking' Loud has their Drum and Bass artists. You can name the big names like Grooverider, Roni Size, Goldie, Doc Scott, Photec and many others.
